Wine under the Fortress 2025: a unique event of wine, history and traditions

On Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7, 2025, the enchanting Pierle Castle, in Mercatale di Cortona (AR), will host “Goblets under the Fortress”, an unmissable event celebrating the authentic flavors of the Valdichiana and the food and wine excellence of Tuscany.
Two days of wine and spirit tastings, typical local dishes prepared by food stalls, guided tours of the Castle and live music under the stars. A perfect opportunity to experience the charm of a medieval fortress in celebration, with good food, wine, and music.
The event is organized by the association Insieme per la Valle, in collaboration with ANAG Toscana and with the participation of TIM-ES.
Event Program
Saturday, September 6
- 6:00 pm → Opening of the event
- 6:30 pm → Guided tour of Pierle Castle (€5 adults – free for children)
- Followed by tastings and live music until midnight.
Sunday, September 7
- 12:00 pm → Opening of the event
- 3:00 pm → Guided tour of the Castle (€5 adults – free for children)
- 6:00 pm → Second guided tour
- The event continues until 10:00 pm with music and open food stands.
Between goblets and… typical dishes
Throughout the event, food stalls will offer local specialties, including:
- Platters of local cured meats and cheeses
- Pasta with Chianina beef ragù
- Pasta with Valdichiana garlic sauce
- Tuscan tomato soup (pappa al pomodoro)
- Porchetta sandwiches
- Spicy chicken (pollo all’arrabbiata)
- Mixed fried delicacies
There will also be alcohol-free drinks available for children, making the event family-friendly.
